The 2009 Hizb ut-Tahrir conference featured an illuminating exchange between a questioner from the audience and a conference speaker. Their identities were not immediately available.

Transcript:

Audience Member: "Would you get rid of the Constitution for Shariah, yes or no?"

Imam: "Over the Muslim world? Yes, it would be gone."
Audience Member: "And so if the United States was a Muslim world, the Constitution would be gone?"

Imam: "If the United States was in the Muslim world, the Muslims who are here would be calling and happy to see the Shariah applied, yes we would."

Audience Member: "And the Constitution gone. That's all. "

Imam: "Yes as Muslims they would be long gone."

Audience Member: 'You answered."

If a country changed its identity from 1 to another then there would of course be a re-evaluation of the laws and constitution and disgarding of some and the keeping of others. Like in afghanistan. The constitution was completely re-written when the taliban were gone. So naturally, if America became a Muslim country, it would not have the same constitution because the people would be ruling by Islam. America's current constitution does not allow shariah to be implemented. So naturally it would no longer exist and a new Islamic constitution would be implemented. HT has a draft constitution that is available from their various websites to look at. So if anyone would like an idea of what the constitution of an Islamic state would be like, go download the draft constitution and have a look.

Ma-assalam.

Please read this speech by President John F. Kennedy in response to your emotional and lack of logic based comments. Your comments also reflect lack of respect and understanding of history, what America has done for the world, what liberty and freedom has done for the world, and positive of science and logic.

"We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans--born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage--and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world."

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge--and more."

"To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided there is little we can do--for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder."

"To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required--not because the communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."

"So let us begin anew--remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate."

"Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths and encourage the arts and commerce."

"Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe."

"Now the trumpet summons us again--not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need--not as a call to battle, though embattled we are-- but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation"--a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself."

"In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility--I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it--and the glow from that fire can truly light the world."

Hi. Look my response was not emotional and I was discussing from a relative viewpoint and understanding. I feel your response to me was highly emotional. To talk about the 'freedom' and 'liberty' that America has brought to the world is really non-sensical. Going in and tearing apart nations far from America, and playing in other countries affairs is not freedom and justice. For example, in Palestine Hamas was democratically elected in to power. America doesn't stop talking about democracy. But then when something democratic happens, but not the way they wanted it they cancel that action. For a nation to have such influence over another and to not let the peoples of one nation take control of their freedom as a nation is unjust. The reason why America didn't want Hamas in power was because they actually stood up against Israel and was doing something militarially to try and benefit the people. Some how it is okay for Israel to rap, pilage and terrorise a people from their homes and if Palestinians want tot fight that they are the terrorists. What kind of freedom liberty or justice is this? IF america accepts that then what America calls for is a lie.

I am a history major at university. I love history and understand it. But history has nothing to do with your topic or whether the American non-Islamic consitution would stay if America was to become a Muslim Islamic State. And my statements were not emotional and completely logical. I think you need to re-evaluate and to understand your own topic first. Go and do some research and become a person of understanding and not just reply with emotional repsonses before you some back to me again.

You still do not understand my comments and postings; I cannot help you understand my comments and postings. Even so, for being a student of history, your interpretation of my comments and postings as being based on emotions and not in the context of what America has done for the world, what liberty and freedom has done for the world, and positive of science and logic is a reflection of a biased education that is pro Taliban, pro death to non Muslims, pro non Muslims being second class, pro dark ages, anti transparency (i.e. you cannot even engage commenting without using political correct terms, words that cause positive public relations effects, and reveal who you are and what organizations you work for and provide support to,) and pro Caliphate under Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda type frameworks and perspectives. At the same time, in what world would America become a Muslim Islamic State and still be America. Such ideas is nonsensical, not grounded in logic, and would lead human kind becoming a world where freedom and liberty would be cause for death.

In the real world and so long as America exists, once again, as President John F. Kennedy stated:

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge--and more."

"To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided there is little we can do--for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder."

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."
