World Summit on the Information Society 2005

World Summit on the Information Society 2005 from Wednesday, November 16, 2005 to Friday, November 18, 2005. Organized by International Telecommunication Union.

The event is designed to bring about the internet to less developed parts of the world. The internet came about from United States military research and from United States academic research. Countless nations are seeking to decrease or remove any United States control measures over the internet. The issue of control measures over the internet will overshadow the event original intent. The multiple parties, multiple businesses, countless users, and countless networks that makeup the internet and that are connected to the internet face a certain level of decreased interporability by the fact that several different internets will exist. The event must focus on the original intent of the event, which is to bring about the internet to less developed parts of the world and also focus on international solutions to spam, phishing, and cyber security.

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is charged with stewardship of the internet and to ensure an open, secure, and stable internet exist. Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers does operate under a memorandum of understanding with the United States Department of Commerce.
